Birth of a Startup

We can finally announce the winner of our competition - Christina is the lucky recipient of our $500 prize after taking part in our decision to pick the Best Gadget of 2008. Please wish her a hearty congratulations!

The Decision was interesting too - can you guess what gadget topped the rankings?

We had 12 options in our decision, everything from laptops to phones to software.

The top three were, in reverse order:

In 3rd place… Kindle - Amazon’s wireless reading device - with interesting comments like "I still would prefer the old book..sorry.." from morena84

In 2nd place… Apple’s iPhone 3G phone - with interesting comments like "Great design, Very powerful, Absolutely perfect… What else?" from cjaek

And… drumroll please… the winner of the Best Gadget of 2008 as voted for by Skimbit users is… the Wii Fit! Who would have thought something good for you could be so loved? We had comments like "Great fun….cept for when it shouts at you for being fat!! :(" from mkiernan, and "I am a grown woman and play my Wii and Wii Fit everyday!!!! This thing is awesome!" by WeddingExpert.

This crowdsourcing of ideas and feedback has proven so successful, we want to do it again. If you have an idea for a Decision that we can propose to all Skimbit users, let us know and we’ll consider showing it on our homepage.
